La Guitarra Flamenca de Rafael Riqueni

Awarded, in 1977 at an age of 15, with the Ramón Montoya prize in the Concurso Nacional (National Competition) in Córdoba Spain, Rafael Riqueni is considered to be one of the most creative and versatile innovators of the modern flamenco guitar. In this DVD and book with sheet music and tabs, Rafael plays and explains 10 selected pieces from his repertoire: 3 Bulerías, Fantasía, Garrotín, Rumba, Soleá, Tangos, Taranta as well as his famous Fandango "Al Niño Miguel”. Each toque is first played at normal speed and then explained step by step in full detail.

Besides his technical explanations, he also comments on the origin of each palo. The professional accompaniment by 2 percussionists is certainly a very useful help to understand the rhythms of the demonstrated pieces.
